Chalk and Oil Pastel
In art, we messed around with a lot of different mediums for our artwork. One of my favorites that we tried was Chalk Pastels. We were assigned to create an art piece using either chalk or oil pastels. Through multiple days in art, I was able to find a picture to base my work off of, then create an outline in pencil. From there, I was able to shade using the chalk pastels. I tried to use a dark sky and a semi - dark sand in the desert, but unfortunately it did not end up quite as dark as I hoped. I also believe that I could have used more shading and mixing when creating the mountain. I learned that in order to make exact lines with pastels is not easy.
The Oil and Chalk Pastel project was part of a group of workshops to expand student's artistic boundaries. Through these workshops I got out of my normal art comfort zone and tried some new ways of doing things.
